95 Points - Wine Enthusiast
Soft, decadent and approachable, this Cabernet Sau- vignon is blended with a little Malbec. It offers flavors of blackberry jam, black currant, dark chocolate and cedar that continue on the long, spicy finish. This is lovely to drink now and over the next five years. —S.H.

92 Points - Purely Domestic Wine Report
Stagecoach Vineyard, Napa Valley, 14.8% alcohol, $80. 333 cs. 95CS|05MB
A nose of stone fruits and mint, concentrated and fairly complex. The palate is rich and robust with dense texture appearing in the mid-palate. Black fruits abound with herbs and lavender adding some nice undertones. It is a very approachable wine that should make lots of friends. Drink 2011 – 2020. - DW

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast
The fruit is sourced from a site that straddles Atlas Peak, but the vineyard is not ex- clusively located there, which is why this wine is labeled with the broad Napa Valley appellation. This 100% Syrah is extraordinarily rich, and it floods the mouth with flavors of blackberries and black currants, plus hints of crisp bacon and black pepper. Dry and tannic, it shows elegance and balance, and it will develop over the next six years. —S.H.

This has superb structure and massive flavors of sweet blackberry jam, black currants, dark chocolate and smoky oak. It shows the depth and concentration of the notable Stagecoach Vineyard, and it should easily hold and develop in the bottle over the next 10 years. —S.H.

93 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
Richness rather than restraint is the message of this mouthfilling wine, yet deep fruit and real varietal complexity keeps it on very solid Syrah footing. It is never compromised by ripeness, and its ample tannins are buffered by plenty of extract, and it has the structured sturdiness of one that is guaranteed to develop quite well. It will not begin to show all that it has for at least another three or four years, and full maturity may not be reached until it has spent another decade in bottle.

PATLAND Select Barrel Reserve Napa Valley 2011
Stagecoach Vineyard. If at first seeming a bit tighter and less forthcoming than its attractive companion from the same site, this deeply drafted offering simply needs a moment in which to stretch out and unfold, and it gradually proves to be the slightly deeper and more polished wine of the pair. It, too, conveys a sense of fruity precision and richness that is far from common in 2011 Cabernets, and, while a bit rough and tannic as befits its tender age, it shows a professional hand in its careful balance and crafting. Tag it for a visit once five years have passed, but do not be at all worried about hiding it away for another eight to ten years.
