Tasting Notes
Our Malbec reached record-level ripeness in the year 2021. This means more color, softer tannin, & more flavor. The wine opens with bright & floral violet high tones, fresh blueberries, and hints of vanilla crème. On the palate this relatively young wine greets you with fresh fleshy tannin, achieving a rich and plush mouthfeel that we always strive to showcase with our Malbec. This is not a shy wine, you'll readily encounter flavors of dark Simca plum, blueberry pie, and boysenberry. The oak is well integrated offering up delicate notes of sweet cedar spice, vanilla, and a potent baker's chocolate finish. This wine is so expressive now that you can't help but enjoy a bottle or two. However, give this wine a few more years, and it will take on a more serious role, with even deeper complexity.
Production Notes
We procured our Malbec sources from three vineyards, two of which are situated at elevations exceeding 1000 feet: Stagecoach Vineyards and Terra Del Cuore, our original estate vineyard. Stagecoach Vineyards, reaching its pinnacle near 1700 feet, boasts deep red volcanic soil with a sandy texture, ensuring excellent drainage and resulting in an intensely concentrated wine. Conversely, our Terra Del Cuore vineyard showcases terraced vines facing south, maximizing sun exposure. These terraces are meticulously designed to optimize drainage and regulate vine vigor, culminating in a wine of exceptional ripeness and concentration. The third and newest vineyard source is Patland Valley Vineyards; this site shares its borders and soil with the renowned Oaknoll District. By blending only the finest barrels from each of these sites, we craft a wine that exemplifies the best qualities of each vineyard. Due to the dry, & warm growing season, we were able to achieve phenomenal wine quality but at the expense of bottles produced. With only 90 cases produced, and 20 cases going to the library this wine won't be available for long.
