The 2022 Vintage: A Year of Extremes, A Malbec of Distinction
Every vintage tells a story. In 2022, Napa Valley’s vineyards endured a dramatic and challenging growing season—one that ultimately shaped an exceptional expression of Malbec with intensity, depth, and a signature all its own.
The year began dry, following several years of drought that left the soils lean and the vines naturally restrained. A late spring frost further limited yields in certain sites, making fruit set sparse but concentrated. Then, just as veraison finished, a historic September heat wave arrived, pushing the vines to their limits. Temperatures surged, accelerating ripening and leading to an early, high-stakes harvest window. Timing, precision, and instinct mattered more than ever.
For our 2022 Malbec, these extreme conditions left a powerful imprint. The berries were smaller, the skins thicker, and the resulting juice deeply concentrated. What emerged from barrel is a wine of profound color and structure—with blueberry, blackberry, and violet aromatics, supported by bakers chocolate, clove , and just a hint of cinnamon. The palate is plush but firmly framed, showing the kind of energy and polish that only comes from fruit grown under pressure.
This is a vintage defined by the resilience of the vines, the land, and the people who care for both. And in this Malbec, you’ll taste all of it.
